Golden Eagle Band to March for New President

TRUMBULL – The Trumbull High School fight song begins ‘Hail to the victor’s valiant,’ and that’s exactly how the 130 members of the Golden Eagle Marching Band must feel after learning that they have been selected to represent Connecticut in the parade celebrating the inauguration of the 44th president of the United States, Barak Obama.

This is the second time in seven years that the marching band has been selected for this honor.  The first occurred in 2001 when they marched in the Inaugural Parade for President George W. Bush.

Marching in top-tier national parades is nothing new for this musical group.  They have also performed in the Macy’s Thankgiving Day, the Citrus Bowl and the Mardi Gras parades. The band, under the direction of  Peter Horton, was among 1300 groups to vie for the honor to represent the Constitution state.

Senators Chris Dodd and Joe Lieberman sent congratulatory messages to the band; each acknowledging the band’s talent and dedication.
