Steppin’ Out Entertainment Steps Out of the Old and Into the New

By Joanne Greco Rochman

For a quarter of a century Steppin’ Out Entertainment has been creating fun and entertainment for the holiday season. While the talented members of the group perform everything from murder mystery parties to children’s shows, they are most widely known for their annual Christmas show. For those fans who have come to know the singers and actors and look forward to celebrating with them every year, this holiday season you will find them at their new location.

Karen Randazzo, who writes and directs the little scenarios that unravel throughout a three course meal announced that Steppin’ Out Entertainment is moving to a new venue.  “We’re moving to The Three Oaks at Capellaro’s Grove in Bethel,” she said adding that the location is bigger and better suited for the group. Having performed at the Spinning Wheel Inn in Redding for years, Mrs. Randazzo said that in addition to the annual Christmas show, the group will now be able to offer year around entertainment events.

“We’re still going to do theater-banqueting,” she said describing the success of the format that allowed the group’s huge following time to digest between meals.  Like a custom-made greeting card, a new story would unfold to music of the season every year. Most of the time, the storylines provided a great excuse for holiday songs, some of which musician/husband Peter Randazzo created or came up with a new arrangement of an old favorite. Clever medleys never fail to get people in the holiday spirit.   “Audiences will have a complete dinner featuring a choice of entrees and topped off with a hot apple dessert,” said Mrs. Randazzo.

The talented husband/wife entertainers have too many professional credits to list, but Mrs. Randazzo  (Director) has written and directed many area projects as well as Off-Broadway productions. She is an accomplished writer who has written nearly a dozen fun-filled murder mystery plots. Here’s a sampling:

Poison Politics
Michael Anderson is running for the US Senate and your support at his campaign dinner is requested. The local construction union may decide to back him tonight, if he has all the right answers.

Sigma Delta Die
A Reunion! Old frat buddies and sorority sisters, and that great do-wop trio, wait weren’t they a quartet?  Dance to the live vocals of the LP’s

Ghost Of A Chance
Mrs. Madeleine Middleton of Middleton Manor invites you to a seancet. The famous psychic Madame Renee DuChamp will attempt to call back the spirit of Madeleine’s dear departed husband, to find out why he took his own life.  Or did he?

Finale
Concert pianist Isaiah Perlmutter’s tour is winding down.  It’s been a long six months especially with “The Diva” on tour with him.  Last stop Carnegie Hall. Or perhaps tonight’s performance will be his grand finale!

When not directing or writing, you’ll find Mrs. Randazzo performing as an actress in television commercials and industrial videos.

As for Mr. Randazzo (Musical Director), he has appeared Off-Broadway in “Street Songs” with Geraldine Fitzgerald at the Actors Playhouse, and as Angelo in “Moon Over Mulberry Street” at the ATA Theater. Other credits include many appearances at area theaters. His children’s musical, “Pecos Bill,” was produced at the Edinburgh Theater Festival in Scotland. As if the holiday shows, murder mystery parties and children’s productions aren’t enough,  Peter Randazzo also offers piano and voice training.

This year, the children’s Traveling Christmas Show is a 35 to 45 minute musical filled with audience participation, which can be combined with a visit from Santa or Mrs. Claus. The show is geared to those who still believe in the “Magic of Christmas,” the title of this year’s production.

This is a very special year and momentous move for Steppin’ Out Entertainment and the Randazzos are going to be recreating one of their all time favorite Christmas shows in honor of the event. Their fans know that this is not a Broadway show venue. Rather this is a group of very talented area performers who come together each year to share their talents in a holiday offering. They will be ready to welcome their loyal fans to their new site in Bethel.  The location is conveniently located off of Route 6 and I-84. Be sure to book early.
