Bank Pledges Funds to Library

BETHEL – Bethel Public Library has announced that it has received a pledge of $35,000 to the Library’s Capital Campaign from Newtown Savings Bank.  The Bethel library is currently raising funds to complete the addition started in 2005 and to restore the Seelye House.  The pledge will sponsor the Circulation Desk at the library.

The total from contributions raised to date is $2, 113, 000, leaving less than $1million to attain their goal.  Chairman of the Bethel Public Library board of directors, Shari Burke Specht stated, “This is a very generous gift and we are very happy to be working with Newtown Savings Bank.

Established in 1855, Newtown Savings Bank has been serving ?Bethel and the surrounding communities with thirteen branches.  “As a long standing member of the Bethel community, having been in town since 1964, we are very pleased to donate to a cause that will benefit everyone in Bethel, said John Trentacosta, president and CEO.  “When completed, this library will be a wonderful resource that will serve both families and businesses alike.”.
