County Flood Damage Appeal Successful
The state of Connecticut has successfully appealed the recent denial by the Obama Administration for ‘Individual Assistance’ as a result of March 12 to May 17 storms and floods.
Governor M. Jodi Rell is urging all County residents who sustained damage to their residences and/or small businesses to apply for Federal aid by registering their claim(s) with FEMA.
Connecticut’s director of Emergency Management, William Hackett, emphasized that the information submitted by residents and businesses was not an application for assistance. The information that had been collected by previously call 211 was solely for the purpose of accumulating the extent of damages for the appeal.
County residents can register by calling the FEMA registration line at 1-800-FEMA (3362). This registration line is operational seven days a week between 6:30am and midnight. Registration can also be done on-line at www.disasterassistance.gov or by visiting the Disaster Recovery Center for Fairfield County, located at Norwalk Community College West Campus, 188 Richards Avenue, Room W-103, Norwalk. The Center is open Monday – Friday, 9am to 7pm and on Saturday from 9am to 4pm.
At the Center, representatives from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available to answer questions.
